From the great documentary photographer and mentor, Susan Meiselas comes an assignment that I usually begin my Photo 1/Intro class with.
ASSIGNMENT: ALPHABETOGRAPHY
The student locates objects, lines, and forms that most resemble each letter of the alphabet, from A to Z. Letters can be discovered in natural and man-made forms, found in shadows, or made by cropping with the frame of the camera.

Looking for letters
Bare trees reveal Vs and Rs. Pavement cracks and twisted decorative metal gates and fences spell out Ss and Cs and and fallen leaves can be swept into shape. School grounds are full of interesting curves and letter shapes. On sunny days use shadows to make your letters.
TIPS:
1. Fill the Frame !!!!!
2. Make sure it's sharp !!!
3. Use Focus Lock when taking your picture and REVIEW the image to make sure it's sharp !!
4. - Sometimes the best photo is right under your nose, so take your time and look closer. Look up, look down, look all around.
5. - Be patient - relax and give yourself time to just SEE. Move in close to capture the details and fill the frame with the letter.
